Abstract

As part of an ongoing collaboration that UNU-MERIT is participating in, we are glad to invite you to the launch of the Steering Research and Innovation for Global Goals (STRINGS) Report. The STRINGS report is a global study analysing whether the directions being taken by the world's science and technology are adequately aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It shows the glaring mismatch between science, technology and innovation (STI) and the SDGs; warns that if this is not addressed it will undermine progress on the SDGs; and makes recommendations about how this imbalance can be tackled. At the launch event we will build on the STRINGS report's key findings to engage in productive discussions on how to address the misalignments between STI and the SDGs, empower effective policy actions and inform key stakeholders about more inclusive, plural and diverse STI choices in meeting the SDGs by 2030.
