Asian Biotechnology and Development Review (ABDR) – Call for Papers

Asian Biotechnology and Development Review (ABDR) is published by RIS (Research and Information System for Developing Countries), New Delhi with three issues per year.  RIS is a policy research think tank based in New Delhi, India. (www.ris.org.in). 


Since its launch in 1997, 18 volumes have been published with Vol. 18 No. 3 November 2016 being the latest issue.  ABDR is published with support from UNESCO and is indexed or covered by CAB International, Scopus, Elsevier Database and EBSCO host™ database.  ABDR has an international editorial advisory board. ABDR publishes articles, book reviews and review articles, on socio-economic impacts/implications of biotechnology, broadly speaking ,and including (but not restricted to) economic impacts, regulation, ethical and legal issues, conservation, and, access and benefit sharing of genetic resources , policy, governance, socio-economic aspects and innovation related issues. We are open to consider contributions on emerging technologies such as nanobiotechnology, new plant breeding technologies, synthetic biology, genome editing and gene drives and also on technological convergence.. ABDR does not consider articles that are purely scientific and technical nature for publication unless they are invited/commissioned articles. Prospective contributors can have a look at the contents of the issues to get an idea about the scope and coverage of articles and book reviews published in ABDR. In case of any doubt please write to the Managing Editor. 

ABDR invites articles, book reviews and review articles for consideration for publication. The articles are subjected to double bind peer review besides being assessed by the editorial group in RIS. Articles are accepted and considered on a rolling basis and all contributions are acknowledged as and when they are received. Articles can be in the range of 5000-11000 words while articles with more 11,000 words can be considered in exceptional cases.  Shorter articles ranging from 2000 to 5000 words are also considered for publication. Book reviews in the range of 1000-2000 words and review articles of two or more books in a related theme/topic are also considered for publication. We strive to get the articles reviewed and revised after the review and get published as early as possible. Publishers/author(s) who want to get the books reviewed by ABDR are requested to send the details regarding the book(s) by email. The guidelines to author's is enclosed for the reference of prospective authors. Contributions can be sent by email as an attachment in MS-WORD format to the Managing Editor ravisrinivas@ris.org.in


ABDR does not charge fees or  accepts any other monetary consideration for publication and it is not an open access journal. Some content is each issue is made available as free to download.  Authors of published articles and book reviews are encouraged to share, disseminate and archive their work(s).
