The Manchester Institute of Innovation Research at the University of Manchester invites early career researchers to apply for the Manchester International Summer School on Emerging Technologies (MiSET2014).

The Manchester International Summer School on Emerging Technologies provides advanced training, researcher development, and networking opportunities for early career (doctoral) researchers interested in real‐time research and innovation systems assessment and innovation policy development for transformative emerging technologies.

Participants:
The Summer School welcomes participants from doctoral students at the early stages of research development (in their first and second years). More advanced doctoral students can apply and will be considered if space is available. About 25 doctoral students will be invited to the Summer School.

Tuition, Accommodation and Meals Provided:
All accepted students will receive no‐cost tuition scholarships. Accepted students will be provided with most meals and 6 nights no‐cost accommodation at the Manchester Business School Hotel.

Travel Stipends:
Students registered in universities outside of Europe may apply for travel stipends to offset the cost of economy round‐trip air travel. Reimbursement will require Summer School attendance and presentation of receipts. Further details will be provided to accepted students. Please indicate if you will need a visa to enter the UK (we will provide an invitation letter but you will be responsible for visa application to the appropriate UK Consulate).

Please apply by email, with the subject "MiSET 2014" to siobhan.drugan@manchester.ac.uk sending the following documents
  • Letter of interest explaining your interest in the Summer School (max. 1 page). Indicate if visa required, where you will travel from, and if travel stipend is required.
  • Research abstract of your PhD research (max. 1 page)
  • CV (max. 2 pages), including names of your doctoral academic supervisor and one additional academic reference.
Early application is advised. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis from 21 March 2014 onwards.
