Library Technology Conclave (LTC2022) on Research Data Management and Stewardship: Building Blocks of Open Science | 28-30 April, Mumbai, India

Library Technology Conclave (LTC2022)
On Research Data Management and Stewardship: Building Blocks of Open Science
28-30 April 2022, Mumbai, India

Themes
  • Open Science: Open science is an inclusive construct that combines various movements and practices aiming to make multilingual scientific knowledge across all disciplines be openly available, accessible, and reusable for everyone, to increase scientific collaborations and sharing of information for the benefits of science and society (UNESCO,2021). Built on the essential principles of academic freedom and research integrity, open science sets a new paradigm that integrates into the scientific enterprise practices the classic Mertonian norms of modern science—communism, universalism, disinterestedness, and organized scepticism.
  • Research Data Management: Research Data as the lubricant that accelerates science, is the most important part of the research process. RDM describes the collection, organization, storage, preservation, and sharing of research data collected during the lifetime of a research project and involves decisions regarding data preservation and sharing after the completion of the project. The UNESCO General Conference (2019) decided to elaborate a draft Recommendation on Open Science; and its draft recommendations will be put forward for adoption at the General Conference in November 2021. The draft Science, Technology, and Innovation Policy (STIP, 2020) of the Government of India, states the overarching mission that Open Science Framework will be built to provide access to scientific data, information, knowledge, and resources to everyone in the country and all engaging with the Indian STI ecosystem on an equal partnership basis. It is imperative that the stakeholders of scientific research and its management, including policymakers, researchers, and research information managers/librarians, come together to deliberate on the challenges of RDM as a building block of Open Science, and help shape relevant policies and frameworks. Come and join us at LTC2022 as we bring together an international community of experts to speak and discuss the diverse aspects of research data stewardship in six technical sessions. Each session, scheduled for 90 minutes, begins with a 30-minute keynote by an expert and a one-hour panel discussion on different facets of the session topic by eminent experts representing different stakeholder communities.
