Culture: the bedrock of peace

In March 2017, the UN Security Council adopted the first ever resolution to focus on the overall threats to cultural heritage. In September 2016, the International Criminal Court pronounced the first ever conviction for war crime for the destruction of historic monuments. A new cultural landscape is being built and a new global awareness is emerging, with the birth of a new approach to protect culture for peace and security. Learn more about it in the October - December 2017 issue of the UNESCO Courier.
