Science Diplomacy in South Asia (SciD-SA) Workshop 2020 by SciD-SA working group of Global Young Academy
Science Diplomacy is the torch that can light the way, where other kinds of politics and diplomacy have failed. To enlighten South Asia with the torch of Science Diplomacy, Science Diplomacy in South Asia (SciD-SA) working group (WG) of Global Young Academy (GYA) is going to organize SciD-SA online workshop over the months of November - December, 2020. SciD-SA group encourages applications from the following group of people from eight South Asian countries (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan):
- PhD students
- Scientists/researchers
- University teachers
- Government officials in the Ministry of Science and Technology and Foreign Affairs
Fields: The call is open to people with background in natural, physical and social sciences, as well as Arts and Humanities and Business and Management.
Expectations: Selected potential Science Diplomats are expected to attend the online workshop during November- December 2020, once a week on Saturday around 19:00 South Asian Time (UTC 13:00) for about 3 hours. They are also expected to take science diplomacy as a lifelong mission to make South Asia the best region in the world.
Applications should be completed personally by the candidate in English. Completing the application might take about 30 minutes or more, the form can be saved at any time and processed later.
The application must be submitted by 18:00 UTC on 30th October 2020.
Evaluation Process:
There are 100 vacancies available for South Asian participants. SciD-SA group members of GYA will conduct evaluation process based on:
i) answers to the questions,
ii) linked online profile.
Diversity: Diversity will be maintained in terms of gender/ specialization/ institution/ country.
